Peng received his B.S. in Applied Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Technology and his M.S. in Chemical Engineering through a joint program with the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Zhenjiang Liu, Prof. Fanhong Wu and Prof. Jintao Liu. He obtained his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Fribourg under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Kilbinger, working on ring-opening metathesis polymerization. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the Adolphe Merkle Institute, Caltech, and ETH Zürich. In 2024, Peng established his independent research group at ETH Zürich with the support of an SNSF Ambizione Grant.
